BANDFIT

Exercise doesn’t have to be all sweatbands, shin splints and stinky gym classes. We know the hardest part of working out is finding motivation, so our classes are designed to take the awkwardness out of exercise.

ABC Bandfit program

If you think you’re too busy for regular exercise, then you’re in luck: the Bandfit program is especially for people short on time and high on work and family commitments. And because the classes are run by the Adelaide Bariatric Centre, there’s no reason to be intimidated by your classmates, who will understand the journey you’re on with no judgments passed on your weight.

Research shows though that by being more active it will help you to lose weight and keep it off, helps you to feel better, lowers the risk of some diseases including cancers and heart disease and increases your metabolism.

And if that isn’t enough to convince you, remember that the success of your weight loss surgery is dependent on the lifestyle changes that follow. Even if you’re already exercising, it’s important to be professionally trained so that your posture is correct and your movements are effective. With all of this in mind, we brought together a program that puts your needs as a bariatric patient and busy person first.

Our instructor Lora is a personal trainer and loves to help people reach their fitness goals in a way that’s fun and accessible. Unlike other gym programs, there are no mirrors to be frightened of. What’s more, the groups are small, and made up exclusively of people that are going through or have been through weight loss surgery.

For your convenience, we offer two structures to allow for busy lifestyles:

  • A one-off shortened class that only takes up three hours of your time, but helps you take that important first step to being more active.
  • A four-week program that helps you to start to establish a routine of activity. It takes 30 days to make a habit, which is why we recommend this option if it’s feasible for you.
